The Capital City Chamber of Commerce's SmartSteps for Business Empowerment Program is designed, planned, executed, and managed by the Capital City Chamber of Commerce in partnership with FAMU Federal Credit Union. This year-long program targets aspiring and current entrepreneurs seeking education and support for managing their businesses. The primary goal of this program is for businesses to become or remain "bankable."
The SmartSteps program is a part of the Capital City Chamber of Commerce's Business Empowerment Department, which promotes the empowerment and continuing education of entrepreneurs and small business leaders. The Business Empowerment Department leads efforts to bridge the knowledge and resource gap between its members and the minority business community.

This class will be focused on reviewing the required state and federal filings for business entities of various entity types and general deadlines. Discussion for the purpose of the filings and the impact of noncompliance will be reviewed to encourage continued compliance.

Entrepreneurship can create gray areas between what are personal and business expenses. Understanding the importance of separating the two and how to efficiently do so is critical for financial clarity and building a strong foundation.
